Our Atelier

A quiet space where clothing is mended, altered, and crafted with care. We work with natural fabrics, traditional techniques, and a respect for the garments that accompany you through life.

The Space

Thread spools and sewing materials

Our studio is a calm environment where we can focus on the work at hand. Natural light fills the space, making it easier to see fabric details and match colors. The work surfaces are organized, with tools and materials kept in their places.

The atelier contains the equipment needed for sewing, pressing, and garment construction. Pattern cutting tables provide space for laying out fabric and working with patterns. Pressing equipment helps us shape and finish garments properly.

When you visit, you'll find a welcoming space where we can discuss your needs and examine garments together. The environment is designed to support careful, methodical work.

Our Approach

We practice slow craftsmanship, taking time to understand each garment and the work it requires. This approach allows us to make thoughtful decisions about techniques, materials, and methods. We don't rush through alterations or repairs, as quality work requires patience and attention.

Each garment receives individual attention. We examine the construction, understand the fabric, and consider how changes will affect the overall piece. This methodical approach helps ensure that the work we do is appropriate and well-executed.

We work primarily with natural fibers—cotton, linen, wool, silk—and appreciate their unique qualities. Understanding how each fabric responds to needle, thread, and pressing helps us choose appropriate techniques.

Tools & Techniques

Our tools are simple and well-maintained. We use both hand-sewing and machine-sewing techniques, choosing the method that's most appropriate for each task. Hand-sewing allows for precision and control in delicate areas, while machine-sewing provides strength and efficiency for longer seams.

Pressing is an important part of our work. Proper pressing helps shape garments, set seams, and create a finished appearance. We use appropriate heat and steam settings for each fabric type, taking care not to damage delicate materials.

We keep a selection of threads in various colors to match existing garments. Buttons, zippers, and other notions are chosen to complement the fabric and garment style. When making repairs, we match existing materials when possible.

Working With You

We believe in clear communication throughout the process. When you bring a garment to the studio, we discuss what you need and examine the piece together. We explain our approach and answer any questions you have.

For alterations, we may ask you to try on the garment so we can see how it fits and mark adjustments. This collaborative approach helps ensure that the work we do aligns with your expectations.

We're here to help you care for your garments, whether that means making alterations, performing repairs, or creating new pieces. The atelier is a space where we can work together to achieve these goals.
